The Brief
Create “vibrant and energetic” promotional materials for Oregon State University’s annual Sing competition. Deliverables included: a logo update, websites graphics, tv monitor slides, double sided tickets, wall posters, and a physical program for the day of the event.
The Ideation
2019’s theme was “Back in our Day: Songs of the 2000s.” Using “Songs of the 2000s” as a jumping off point, I researched the visuals of the music industry at that time, specifically pulling from my memories of the iPod commercials and “Now That’s What I Call Music” CDs. Pulling from these inspirations and the brief of “vibrant and energetic” I began to make my sketches and first mock-ups. Bright colors, gradients, silhouettes, and 3D letters reminiscent of the 2000’s trends and graphics but updated and within the school’s strict brand guidelines.
The Process
After presenting the sketches to the client they loved the idea and asked that I create mockups for all the deliverables and use both color schemes from my ideation. Overall, this was a very painless process with the client and I staying on the same page throughout the entire project. From there I developed all electronic and print marketing materials to communicate a vision that matched the year’s theme.
